Butterfly Pendant

Originally designed for a movie project that I was commissioned to make jewellery for, this Butterfly range of pendants evolved out of that experience.
I had been making flat and very stylised dragonfly and butterfly wing pendants for a few years prior to this design, but I had always felt they lacked a sense of 3D and implied motion.
My aim, with this range, was to attempt to capture those elements and to also introduce a little more realism.
I was able to realise this by giving the wings more of a 3D look, along with mounting the pendant above a small pedestal, which sits the butterfly off the chest of the wearer, creating the illusion that it has just taken flight.
